Where We Started . . .

Atlas Life (formerly Pacia Life) was created in 2013 in response to founder Randy Oakley’s personal experience working with foster children, in boarding schools, and founding wilderness therapy programs in both Utah and Costa Rica. His passion for research in grit, resiliency, and authentic happiness around the world began to form the direction for Atlas Life.

Atlas Life was founded to address a critical need - bridging the gap in practical life skills among the young adults we serve. Many struggle with real-world tasks due to over-reliance on protective programs or families. They're accustomed to functioning only within a structured environment. Hence, we provide an environment that equips the necessary skills for a successful, independent life. Today, Atlas Life has grown into an international organization servicing young adult needs of all types and backgrounds. Atlas Life was founded on a desire to not only see every young adult survive but to thrive.

About us . . .

Atlas Life is a life coaching and empowering gap year program for young adults designed for anyone 17.5-35 who has specific goals but doesn’t know how to achieve them or feels lost and stalled in life. We specialize in crafting a transformative experience that fosters personal, academic, and professional growth through a holistic approach. Each student is paired with a personalized life map and team of highly-trained life coaches specializing in various areas to provide tailored guidance in order to build sustainable self-reliance and live the independent life they desire.

And our downtown, semi-independent setting in both locations encourages individual freedom while simultaneously providing the supportive scaffolding to avert significant setbacks. This setting cultivates independence and allows students to experience real-life situations in a secure, guided context. Our ultimate objective is for our students to leave us equipped with a solid emotional toolkit and foundation in adult skills, ready to never fully rely on a program or their parents again, but to confidently move into a future of self-sufficiency and success.

Why us . . .

Our experienced team of life coaches brings decades of expertise in the therapeutic industry. With diverse backgrounds from overseas teachers to chemists, they excel in guiding individuals through life challenges and fostering personal growth. Their extensive training and hands-on experience have given them profound insights into effective communication techniques and evidence-based therapeutic approaches. Together, they offer compassionate guidance and wisdom to empower clients, helping them overcome obstacles, unlock their potential, and find fulfillment in their lives.

At Atlas Life, we aren't just life coaches who offer advice, nor are we a residential program that hand holds. Our uniqueness lies in our approach: we take the time to understand each student's individual story, their motivators, and their blockages and  tailor-make a life plan for them. We then assign a dedicated team of life coaches each to guide young adults in bringing their plan to fruition, assisting them in making necessary adjustments along the way. Most importantly, recognizing that a successful transition to adulthood involves shifting responsibilities from parents to the young adults, we offer specialized parent empowerment coaching. By working through the family system, we nurture independence so that by the end of our program, everyone - parents and young adults alike - feel confident in the young adult's capacity to lead a self-sufficient life. This is why most of our student’s don’t transition to another program but move into the real world.

We work with students to execute their custom-tailored Tatori life map so they can identify, curate, and work towards a future that is right for them. Our students learn everything from how to be more effective in academic courses to what resiliency looks like when there is no parental safety net anymore. We teach them how to build a community network that will support them far beyond their current circumstances. Our team of coaches can help students learn how to manage their finances, be more mindful, and support their body through better nutrition and fitness routines. We customize life mapping plans designed to meet specific needs and characteristics of the student, ensuring each and every Atlas Life community member is receiving the resources they need to be successful.

The ATLAS LIFE Method

We gather Insight on the student, we then create a customized Tatori Life Plan prior to their arrival, and we establish expectations with a timeline to measure success along the way. Upon arrival, every student is assigned a team of life coaches, each specializing in a certain life skill area to help construct a solid Foundation for independence. We utilize a student run investor call format to update families and ensure that their financial and emotional Investment is seeing positive returns. We Step-Up the student's responsibilities and standards while decreasing the family's. We transition to more advanced coaching stages, namely the 'Power of Habit' phase followed by the 'Power of Intention' phase. Lastly, the sole purpose of your life plan is to launch you confidently into an independent life, without the need of programming or parents, but into a life you want to live. So the final stage at Atlas Life is the Emergence stage where we set up our students lives outside of our program to ensure that they are on their way to becoming the individual they have desperately wanted to be.

The Tatori Life Plan is a unique and empowering life coaching approach designed specifically for young adults seeking happier, healthier, independent lives. Our system fosters rapid personal growth as you advance through progressive levels, acquiring essential self-improvement skills tailored to your specific wants and needs. By focusing on developing new life maps and empowering mindsets, our life coaches help you break free from limiting beliefs and replace old behaviors with ones that produce results.

Using powerful solution-focused steps: Grand Vision, Lens, Dance, Mirror

Foundation Life Coaching Services

  • With an in-house Parent Coach and Family Dynamics Specialist, we help parents explore their behavioral tendencies - such as rescuing - and teach them how to replace those with empowering and supportive actions. We engage in both individual parent coaching work, as well as parental team coaching when there are more than one individual involved. Additionally, if and when everyone in the family is ready and able, we identify how the communication dynamics within individual relationships affect the family dynamic as a whole. We will then help each member of the family create new communication paradigms that help heal old wounds and create new healthy models of interacting that will last for years to come.

Throughout the process of adjusting to a new way of life, it is imperative that both our students and their support system are working with open lines of communication. Using family systems coaching, we help family break unhelpful patterns, notice communication dynamics, and understand how to relate more effectively.

  • Atlas Life has a two in-house certified yoga instructors and mindfulness coaches who are passionate about creating mind-body connections with their students. We focus on functional mindfulness and teaching skills that can be applied to everyday situations. After 5 years of working in the mental health field, Emily has seen the benefits of using mindfulness to combat social anxiety, job related stress, and emotional disregulation. We believe that every student at Atlas Life, no matter their background or goals for the future, can benefit from adding mindfulness into their daily routine.

  • At Atlas Life, we use crafting as a way to introduce students to creative outlets, art community, and potential vocational skills. We have found that working with their hands helps build self-efficacy, develop executive functioning and spatial awareness, and explore small business opportunities. We use a community maker’s space to build everyday tools that the students can use, like chef knives. Through this community space, each student is able to get certified in metal working, woodworking, and many other vocational and creative skills. Using knife making as an example, the process starts with an explanation of materials and how to properly care for them. Our coaches will help them explore different shapes and the benefits and limitations of each blade or handle. Once a design is completed we use grinders, sanders, drills, saw, forge and anvil, and sharpening stones to execute that individual's design. If a student has a desire to dive deeper into craftsmanship, we explore options like creating a small business or entering a trade school to expand on the basic skills learned.

  • At Atlas Life we specialize in helping our students explore their interests and the career paths that could be a good fit. We understand that everyone’s employment path looks different, and we work to meet the goals of the individual. For some, we help them find a stable, entry level position that can introduce them into the job market. For others, we find highly specific career opportunities that are furthering a passion or skill.

  • We know that continued education is not for everyone. However, for our students who do have the desire to further their education; we help them get set up in the right classes for their needs.

As our students are learning and growing, we’ve also seen this desire blossom later in the process. No matter what your level of education is or what your goals are, we can help you take the steps to get the degree.

  • Our community engagement service guides our students through the steps of identifying their passions and looking for organizations or opportunities in the local area where they can develop their skills and build connections. Secondly, traveling abroad enhances their interpersonal and communication skills as they navigate new environments and interact with people from different backgrounds. It promotes adaptability, independence, and problem-solving abilities. Lastly, international travel provides valuable opportunities for self-discovery, personal growth, and building confidence. It allows young people to step outside their comfort zone, challenge themselves, and gain a deeper understanding of themselves and the world around them.
